Finger Puppets
The Big Idea that we incorporated into this studio lesson was celebrations. This finger puppet that I created is a celebration of a part of myself. Since I was born and raised in Texas I chose to create a cowgirl finger puppet to show my Southern roots ad love for my home state.
I could incorporate this lesson into my future classroom in a literacy lesson - after the students read a certain book they could then create a finger puppet that represents that character. The students could then work in groups or as a whole class and create their own story with their finger puppets and turn the lesson into a writing class. I can also see myself using the exact same lesson that we did for my future students. Teaching students self awareness and having students understand that they are so special in their own way is essential to building a students self-confidence.

Norman Rockwell Magazine Cover - Family Life
The big idea that was incorporated into this lesson was celebrations. I chose to celebrate the common and often overlooked family relationship. My family lived in Michigan for about two years which is why I chose this particular picture. We lived about 20 minutes from Lake Michigan and would spend as many weekends as we could at this lake.
I could incorporate this lesson into my future classroom through integrating social studies. To integrate this lesson I could have the students studying a particular time in history create a magazine cover that reflects that time period. Each student would have to make sure they were covering a certain issue and topic within that era. To take this lesson even further the students can expand on their magazine and write articles about the topics which incorporates literacy into this lesson as well.

The big idea that was incorporated into this lesson was celebrations. I chose to celebrate all the women in my family. My grandmother, aunt and mom have all played such an important part in who I am today and each one of them inspires me every day to be a better daughter, sister, friend, student and teacher.
I coud incorporate this lesson into my future classroom through integrating this into any subject! One of the greatest parts of this studio was that we each were able to choose what type of project we wanted to do and really make it our own by thinking about who inspires us and what we want to celebrate. Students can choose to celebrate their favorite sports team, favorite character in a book that we are reading in class or who the person who inspires them the most for a literacy/writing class.
